Welcome to Indigo Lightning, home to my various creative interests which include fiction writing and drawing. Here you can read some of my fan work and original work, take a gander at some of my artwork and just generally chill out!
My name is Sam, I'm a recently qualified junior doctor working in the NHS in the UK. Though I may be an over-worked healthcare employee, I have an enormous creative drive and so my free hours are spent in my two favourite pastimes- writing or drawing!
My main sources for inspiration are video games, anime and books. Game-wise, I'm particularly influenced by the Final Fantasy series, the Tales...series, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Okami, and some lesser known games like Eternal Darkness (Gamecube) and Darkened Skye (Gamecube/ PC). Anime that have influenced me include Black Cat, Romeo X Juliet, The Slayers (the original, NEXT, TRY, REVOLUTION and EVOLUTION-R), X/1999, Full Metal Alchemist, Vision of Escaflowne, Sorceror Stabber Orphen, Love Hina, and probably more I've forgotten! I've also gleaned lots from my favourite books (The Books of Pellinor by Alison Croggon, Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan, Sabriel by Garth Nix, The Companions Quartet, Dragonfly and the Darcie Lock series by Julia Golding, Eon by Alison Goodman, The Edge Chronicles by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddel, The Princess and the Captain by Anne-Laure Bondoux, The Dreamweaver Legacy series by Mark Robson).
As you can tell, I love fantasy. I find it's the freest of genres and it really lets your imagination run wild. I see enough gritty realism in my day to day work, so it also offers the chance to get away from it all and find solace in something different.
So what's on offer here?
ORIGINAL FICTION- my novel trilogy entitled 'The Zodiac Hunters'. Check it out for information about the books, the characters and setting, and read the first few chapters on authonomy.com. Also find out details of my new project, 'The Binding'.
FAN FICTION- stories about my favourite fandoms. Currently I have two uploaded: one from the game Fire Emblem 10 and one from the Companions Quartet books by Julia Golding.
ART- my drawing and colour CGs, ranging from fanart, to original art, to fantasy creatures and more.
ALLIANCE OF WORLDBUILDERS- the fantasy writing community on authonomy.com, of which I am the Vice Captain.
