At the beginning of the last century, a great change swept over the landscape of southern Egypt, and Aswan has not escaped the baffling climate turnaround. Where there was once desert there is now jungle, as thanks to the Egyptian Lakewater Recovery Project the green belt of Central Africa flourished northwards. Aswan is now surrounded by flora and fauna of types never thought to be seen in such a place. The city thrives off its fishing industry, exporting their exotic catches worldwide, and of course it still has the temples of the Ancient Egyptians, making Aswan one of the richest cities in Northern Africa.

Aswan is a wonderful place with a great night life and plenty of tourist sites. It is also a hot spot for safaris, and the local zoo puts on great wildlife shows and demonstrations, so that people can learn about the new climate and what new animals and features it has brought to the old oasis. A perfect destination for a holiday with lots of variety.
