Mytilini is the capital of Lesvos, a bustling port city that does a roaring trade with tourists. Alas, it is not one of the stronger island nations, since it has had trouble competing in the artefact market. As such, Lesvos's infrastructure is somewhat lagging behind. Nevertheless, people flock to it in their hundreds to see the famous petrified forest, and enjoy one of the more peaceful islands of the Mediterranean. There are many pleasant sights in Lesvos, so while it may not be at the forefront of the archaeological boom, it is still a popular holiday destination. The capital has the great St. Therapon's cathedral, which is widely visited, for it is one of the few places to host ancient Christian relics, which have become very scarce since most items can only be found on the black market.
All in all, Lesvos is a beautiful island, home to forests, beaches and cliffs, and is a must-visit for anyone who can afford to do so.
